How today’s society is killing the “Nice Guy”…

A rant I wish I didn’t have to make. Some people in society never cease to amaze and disgust me.
The expression no good dead goes unpunished has never meant more than it does today. The fact that we have degenerated to such a low in our society today that anyone doing something from the goodness of their heart comes under attack by barely human individuals that have nothing better to do than to try and discredit the actions of another.
Recently a tragedy hit my company (Mk2 Business Solutions) where my lead programmer/best friend’s sister was in a tragic car accident and is in ICU. I am not going to go over any details here as this is not the forum for the topic. I decided to use my companies hosting server and resources to create a website for my best friend to help the rest of the out of town family to keep up to date with his sister’s progress. The site also takes donations to help her in her recovery process. Everything was built and setup in a transparent nature and we even contacted a local newspaper which ran a story on her status and the launch of the site to help create awareness for her situation.
I thought nothing of doing this to help my best friend and his family during this terrible time. My heart goes out to him and his family and I wanted to do something to help them through this crisis. It is impossible to sit idly by as someone so close to you is going through so much pain.
Within 1 week of the newspaper article people that are of no blood relation at all to my best friends sister are PUBLICLY questioning the intentions of the site and where the proceeds are going. Upon hearing this news my heart hit the floor. I could not believe that people believe that someone cannot do a good deed without having to try and slander them publicly and question their intentions.
I know who these people are and as much as I want to return the favor you have done for me I refrain. See I wanted to do something to help a friend in need and you have tried to discredit me and my company. That is disgusting and low, lower than low. You have no morals and are barely human. It is people like you that have caused the death of the “Nice Guy”. No one wants to do anything out of the goodness of their heart anymore because people like you cause them pain and anguish for their actions.
The good that comes from this is that THIS nice guy is not dead, you cannot shut down the site and as far as the credibility of the site goes. BRING IT ON! There is nothing sinister or treacherous here, well aside from you that is. This site in question is jennymaguire.com and yes WE know exactly who the slandering parties are!
From one nice guy to those that try to stomp nice guys down. You haven’t crushed our will and we will continue to do good things even though disgusting creatures like yourselves try to discredit us.

What happened to customer service

What is going on in todays business world? Where has customer service gone? There is no such thing as calling up a company providing you a service that you pay for and have them correct a problem or accept responsibility for a mistake on their part. If you haven’t seen my post on the poor service from my previous web hosting company please read and you will understand why I am tired of dealing with companies that don’t care about customer service.
The latest experience in with my cellphone provider Bell Canada. For the last 3 months my bill has gone up by $20 because the company dropped one of my promotional codes 3/4 of the way through my contract with them. For two months I contacted customer service and was promised that it would be corrected on the next bill (all be it after a lengthy hold and the most annoying automated answering system). The second month there was no correction made for the over payment the previous month, I called and was told my next bill would be $20 less than normal as there would be a correction from the previous month.
The next bill comes and its $60 higher than what it was supposed to be so as you can imagine I was extremely irritated when I called Bell’s customer service. The rep I ended up speaking with looked into the over charge and guess what my 750 minute plan had been dropped to 350 mins. Keep in mind I have a 2YR contract with this company and they can’t even keep the contract accurate through the term. After about 20 mins the minutes are corrected and the extra charges are removed from the bill. Then it comes to the missing credit from the previous billing error. The rep could not even figure out the math for three months of bills even with me walking him through it over the phone. There was a $20 credit that was never applied to my bill. Seems pretty simple well not for this customer service rep is was not.
After another 30-45mins of arguing with this idiot he finally admits that yes I was over charged and the credit was never applied back to my bill and gets my bill corrected for me. Thank god my contract expires in august and we now have number portability because you can be damn sure I will not be continuing with this Bell.ca for my cellphone service.
Ive lost all faith in the service industry, I am a business owner that provides many services and I ALWAYS deal with problems right away, respond to clients and answer calls. When I was a sales manager for a big box retail store I did everything possible to make sure all customers left the store happy no matter what the original problem was. I am still waiting for a company to reinstall some faith in the customer service industry.
That is my rant for the day guess I should expect this from the same company that is throttling its internet service and trying to control what it’s users do on the net. I don’t normally rant publicly about things that bother me, usually I just wander aimlessly about the house and yell at inanimate objects. Frustrated at the idiocity* of the human race. However this particular thing that bothers me about people is worthy of posting so here goes.
*Idiocity – YES I know this word is not found in the English dictionary. Read the following as I believe it should be entered into both the medical journals and dictionary.

Passport Rant

Dear Mr. Minister,
I’m in the process of renewing my passport, and still cannot believe this. How is it that Radio Shack has my address and telephone number and knows that I bought a t.v. cable from them back in 1997, and yet, the Federal Government is still asking me where I was born and on what date.
For Christ sakes, do you guys do this by hand?
My birth date you have on my social insurance card, and it is on all the income tax forms I’ve filed for the past 30 years. It is on my health insurance card, my driver’s license, on the last eight goddamn passports I’ve had, on all those stupid customs declaration forms I’ve had to fill out before being allowed off the planes over the last 30 years, and al those insufferable census forms that are done at election times Would somebody please take note, once and for all, that my mother’s name is Maryanne, my father’s name is Robert and I’d be absolutely astounded if that ever changed between now and when I die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHIT!
I apologize, Mr. Minister. I’m really pissed off this morning. Between you an’ me, I’ve had enough of this bullshit! You send the application to my house, then you ask me for my @#&in’ address. What is going on? You have a gang of Neanderthals assholes workin’ there!
Look at my damn picture. Do I look like Bin Laden? I don’t want to dig up Yasser Arafat, for shit sakes. I just want to go and park my ass on a sandy beach. And would someone please tell me, why would you give a shit whether I plan on visiting a farm in the next 15 days? If I ever got the urge to do something weird to a chicken or a goat, believe you me, I’d sure as hell not want to tell anyone!
Well, I have to go now, ’cause I have to go to the other end of the city and get another @#%in copy of my birth certificate, to the tune of $60!Would it be so complicated to have all the services in the same spot to assist in the issuance of a new passport the same day??
Nooooo, that’d be too damn easy and maybe make sense. You’d rather have us running all over the @#%in’ place like chickens with our heads cut off, then find some asshole to confirm that it’s really me on the goddamn picture – you know, the one where we’re not allowed to smile?! (@#%in morons)

P.S. Remember what I said above about the picture and getting someone to confirm that it’s me? Well, my family has been in this country since 1776 then one of my forefathers took up arms against the Americans. I have served in the military for something over 30 years and have had security clearances up the yingyang. I was aide de camp to the lieutenant governor of our province for ten years and I have been doing volunteer work for the RCMP for about five years. However, I have to get someone ‘important’ to verify who I am – you know, someone like my doctor WHO WAS BORN AND RAISED IN COMMUNIST @#%ing RUSSIA !!!
