Vista SP1 - Review

Well its here and ready to install, Windows Vista SP1. I grabbed the install from the downloads because its not available for Windows Update until April18, 2008.

The Review
This install took approximately a 1/2 Hr. and was uneventful, this installation was on my Fujitsu 6025 Lifebook. Reboot worked without out fail and there it was. Some of the first things that I noticed was that the delay in file transfer estimation was gone as I transferred some large files from one partition to another. The file transfer rate on the 5400RPM laptop drive was approx. 5-6MB/Sec but the update bar is more consistent than it is in the non SP1 setup.

Vista SP1 ScreenshotWhen using FireFox and trying to open html links from within applications like Mail there is an error that pops up saying that the page cannot be found but then FireFox loads the page anyway. It is more of a minor inconvenience than a major problem. There is a driver compatibility problem with SP1 and the Fujitsu shock sensor. A quick check on the Fujitsu site netted me an updated driver that seems to be working properly.

I am still finding that the network detection tools are still weak, often when clicking network my router is not in the list so to log-in to the router I have to go in via http. Other times the router appears and the standard Right Click>View Device Web-page is available. Network access is quicker when navigating through shared folder on the XP machine in the network.

Display adapters
There was supposed to be fixes in this Service Pack for display adapters running multiple displays from a notebook. I have not yet seen the fix I was looking for, when I plug my plasma T.V. into the laptop via VGA I can use it as a second monitor but when I unplug it from the laptop the task/start menu bar goes invisible with a thin outline of where it is supposed to be. In order to get it back I have to stop the dwm.exe (Desktop Window Manager) from the task manager and let it restart the service for the start menu to appear again. Still no fix for this error in the new SP1.

So far I have seen one of the fixes that I was looking for in HDD file transfer and Network access but other than that there is not much of a change to the general functionality of Vista.

Well that is my first glance, I will make updates to the post as I delve into the update a little more.

Wordpress 2.5 Review

Yet again I logged into my blog admin to find another update is available for Wordpress. Usually these updates are just security fixes to the Wordpress code or fixes to remove vulnerabilities exploited by hackers hell bent on making out lives a hassle.

So I did the deed downloaded the update and installed it, first thought was hmmm its making Database changes. There must be some serious changes in the latest version. After a few seconds I was told that the database was upgraded and I could view the site. No changes to the site thank god, login into admin and WOW that is some major changes.

Wordpress has made a complete overhaul of the admin control panel and I have to say it is for the better. The sidebar editor is way easier to use than previous releases, the layout on the control panel is very web 2.0 looking and easier to read. Frequently used tabs are prevalent in the dashboard area ’settings Plugins Users’ are smaller links on the right side but always there for a quick click. The overall UI has been made extremely easy to navigate and is much more friendly than it was on the previous release. I also had no problems with my highly custom theme on this site.

The greatest add on for me in this version is the one click plugin updates no more downloading new plugin delete old install new rinse and repeat. With one click you can simply update whatever plugin has an updated version. This saves SOOOO much time when running mulitple blogs.

Overall I have to say GREAT JOB Wordpress 2.5 is an absolute mush have for anyone using an older version of this powerful blogging tool. Two thumbs up and keep up the great work!

Esoteric Agenda Review

Well in the spirit of controversy and conspiracy I though I would start up a post and inspire some commenting on a video that I recently watched on Google Video. Before reading the rest of this post please keep the following in mind about myself the writer. I have been involved in organized religion and chosen my own beliefs over what was forced upon me.  I worked many years for a large corporation that brainwashes it‘s employees into thinking the world outside of the organization is lesser and you superior only because you are part of this organization. I have been versed in many of the interesting theories and conspiracies put forth by others that keep an open mind.

You may choose whether to view the video before continuing to read this post or  you can read the post and view the video after by following the same link at the bottom of the page.

Whenever the topic of government and religion comes up you can always expect difference and debate and often wars that are based off these two controversial topics. This movie 2hrs6mins long but worth watching has a completely different outlook on the entire world and us as a population. The premise is that all the powers that you see in media and the most prominent figures in the world are simply pawns to a greater super power that controls the destiny of mankind. It details connections to secret organizations such as the Luminati, Knights Templar and others that date as far back as the Myan empire. These organizations which ultimately are directly linked to the British monarchy control everything in the world today from what is in our food to what we see in the media.

This one behind the scenes super power is doing this through manipulating the visible super powers in the world such as the United States and its leaders. Government, laws, media are all focused on one thing and one thing alone. The brainwashing and control of the 87% of the general world population that is susceptible to such mass hypnosis. Using the easiest motivator of the weak minded to control the masses, FEAR is the ultimate motivator for those that have difficulty seeing things for themselves or choose not to see the world and events for what they are and not we are told.

There are signs of this in every walk of life if we choose to look. Taxes is the largest controller of the populous, we pay a large percentage of our  hard earned monies to the governments that wage wars on other countries and neglect to take care of economic issues at home. The general population are slaves to debt and to consumerist behavior of buying whatever is  pushed into the forefront of the mind through media. The news is there to scare us into believing what the governments what us to be scared of  so they can “protect us”.  Protection in the form of new laws, that if you really look at just relieve us of our rights as human beings. Not the rights that are put forth by the governments of the countries we reside in but the rights as living organisms inhabiting this planet.

So why are government and religion the two topics that are best not discussed at the dinner table or with friends. Well it is simple these to factions are ultimately linked. Religion spawned government and government is just a tool to control the populations of countries. Really look back into past and ask yourself if some of what you see in this movie is fact that is shrouded in bureaucracy and news.  This movie also describes the face that is global warning and the hype received by “An Inconvenient Truth”, I will have a complete post dedicated to this topic coming up soon.

This movie is a well spent educational 2 hours, yes there are some topics that seem unbelievable but that’s what is great about being human. The ability to have our own opinions on everything and be able to see the world for what it is to ourselves and not what the organizations in the world want us to see. Keep an open mind and while you watch this video but please don’t let it consume your life, remember it is just someone else’s opinion created by connecting the dots of history and forming a conclusion.

This post  is my opinion and I took from this movie what I needed and chose to ignore certain parts and information. I am not an anarchist I just think that as a race human beings take everything to the extreme and we prey on those that are weak even if that means preying on each other . Below is a link to the video is question

Primeval Review

Primeval ReviewI have just started watching a British made television series “Primeval“. The show has aired its second season now and for a show that originally looked as if it was going to be another Sir Arthur Conan Doyles “Lost World” I was pleasantly surprised. The character interaction and acting is pretty good, the premise for the show is this; rifts/portals in the 4rth dimension that are letting creatures in from prehistoric and future eras. An interesting team of archaeologists, reptile specialists and a secret organization are dedicated to keeping the events from the media so as not to cause wide spread panic. The sultry Lucy Brown is the liaison between the team and the secret organization. Kinda like Special Unit 2 and X-Files. The special effects for the creatures is extremely well done for a Television production. The only complaint I have is that this show only has 6 or 7 episodes per season.

In conclusion this show has everything to make it a success, good acting, attractive cast, an awesome story, great CG creatures and top notch character interaction and development. This is a must see for anyone interested in getting away from the reality show garbage that is polluting out televisions.

CAST:
Douglas Henshall…Professor Nick Cutter
Andrew Lee Potts…Connor Temple
James Murray …Stephen Hart
Hannah Spearritt…Abby Maitland
Lucy Brown …Claudia Brown
Juliet Aubrey …Helen Cutter
Ben Miller …Sir James Lester
Karl Theobald …Oliver Leek
Naomi Bentley …Caroline
Mark Wakeling …Capt. Tom Ryan

I am appealing to everyone reading my blog to tune into this show on whatever channel it airs in your city so that it stays on the air and we can continue to enjoy some quality television for a change.
