Smuggler: From what I have been led to understand, Robbins does not have access to the Motor Vehicle Licence Numbers database. As long as you don;t give them either your name or address, there’s not too much they can do to collect your ticket

As an employee of the company that does the booting, let me offer a freindly word of advice, all the emotional and political opinions aside folks, be careful. Under the Canadian Criminal Code, tampering with or otherwise damageing a lawfully apllied wheel boot, is a criminal offence. They take a photograph of your plate, the dashboard/windshield showing the lack of a Parking Stub, and they document the hell out of it. I have seen the paperwork and Police Files of several people who were arrested and charged by both Victoria and Saanich Police for forcibly removing a boot. The laws allowing them to boot are the exact same laws that allow them to tow and impound. Everytime someone has sued, the booting company has won, every time. 5 Provinces in Canada have active booting now.
I’m just a clerical worker, but I get to see all the paperwork and listen to the boot guy’s stories – the boot guys who are hired for Robbins are outside contractors, the Robbins ticket dude calls them for a boot application, so these guys dont have a key to the ticket manchines, and they really don’t have the ability to “let you off”. Only Robbins can do that. Hope this gives you all a little more info on the legal aspects. Happy Parking!

I cancelled service in December 2008. All was fine and ended smoothly. They stayed on my credit report as an old paid off in good standing account until now, when out of nowhere even though I don’t have service they updated my credit file with 3 late payments. Dec 2009, Jan 2010, and Feb 2010. So about a year after leaving them, they still managed to stick me.

I called them up, and was told no I don’t owe money, my account is canceled. I ask them to correct their credit report error they reported and said there is nothing they can do, I ask for accounts receivable and am told because I don’t owe money they won’t talk to me???!!! WTF???

CRTC and my Lawyer will deal with them now.

also, from my view point, its just another religion/cult that is calling itself something else. saying that religion and governments are bad and how they are the right ones……just like any following they tell you that they have the right path and that what you are doing is wrong and you need to be saved/awakened.
I see them as the Disney version of 2012, instead of the world and humanity being destroyed, they believe that 2012 will signal some kind of awakening in people……but seriously, they lost me with the first 3 minutes of the video, its just so obvious what it was XD

anyway, thats my take on it, and if you DO believe in this sorta thing well….good for you, and dont hold your breath on the 2012 thing…

I have a gas cut off saw that would cut thru the boot in about 30 seconds. A little loud and may draw attention (it sounds like a chainsaw), but their boot would be lieing in their lot in 2 pieces in my rear view mirror.

Do not worry about parking tickets. The city of victoria does not have the ability to damage ones credit or hurt them in any way for unpaid fines. Robbins, on the other hand, does. They are an old wealthy company that has long monopolized parking in victoria, and yes, they are colluding with the city.
